Old from the knife forge Fritz Lattka

EXCEPTIONS CONFIRM THE RULE!!!

What you can buy in this section is probably no longer available anywhere, because Fritz Lattka had his knife forge and grinding shop in Görlitz. The older of us still know that Germany was once separated but fortunately since 1989 is united again.
We the so-called Wessis could buy us everything while the so-called Ossis could not acquire everything and were so attuned to repair and manufacture themselves!

I WOULD PERSONALLY WISH THAT WE STOP WITH THE WESSIS AND OSSIS AND SIMPLY SPEAK OF THE GERMANS AS A WHOLE, BECAUSE WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ONE PEOPLE!!!!

Fritz Lattka 1929-2017 the company has existed 100 years!!! Known by The Last of His Stand (The Cutler) by Benedikt Kuby.

Those who know me know that I came to the blacksmith through the series Der Letzte seines Standes (The Last of His Stand), through the episode der Schmied (The Blacksmith) with Alfred Habermann. But also about Fritz Lattka was shot in 2004 an episode in which he made his last pocket knife.
So it happened that one day someone wrote to me and said he had some machines etc. to give away and we agreed that he would visit me and we would discuss it. and lo and behold the caller turned out to be the grandson of Fritz Lattka, once again fate struck, because I have seen the show very often. We agreed that we times together the nearly 700KM to Görlitz drive and we did then also.
When I then entered the workshop I did not believe my eyes at first, so many great machines and materials that are no longer available in this quality. Even the old transmission driven machines were still running perfectly. Together with my wife I started to look through everything and it was a time travel into a 100 years old workshop history. Mr. Lattka and I quickly agreed financially and so we started packing and the car quickly became full. Everything could not be taken of course and so it was agreed that I go up again and then take the rest. And I did that 3 weeks later with a good friend.
The old transmission driven drill press with mechanics to grind razors was quickly dismantled and loaded. Also the anvil went along. Both are now in working order in my workshop and knives are being made again on Mr. Lattka's anvil. Also the old bottle vices and for me usable machines went with in the Allgäu. The rest because now I have not taken with me goes to scrap that is a pity but:
WHO DOES NOT GO WITH THE TIMES GOES WITH THE TIMES, THEY SAY!!!

The following things will soon be available in my store in small and larger quantities:

Cutlery and table knives blanks made of carbon steel from the time between 1907-1920, as a blank or with original handles of that time made of wood, horn or Bakelite. Not stainless!!! With teeth of your choice from 1-4mm
Cutlery and table knives blanks stainless from the time after the 2WK - 1970, as a blank or finished with original handles of that time made of wood, bone or horn. With teeth of your choice from 1-4mm
Various knives finished by myself from blade blanks of Fritz Lattka
Various original knife blades for pocket knives from old times, of course stamped by manufacturer.
Original spare parts for razors from Puma and other manufacturers.
Old scissors refurbished and sharpened by me.
Really very old original knife handles in top condition.
And much much more!!! On my YOUTUBE- channel you can find a few videos of the workshop.

My workshop actually leaves only what I can make myself with my hands work! But in this case I make an exception because what has opened up here was so unique that I had to do that and look forward to it very much. You have to imagine that these things would have ended up in the trash like so much. But a part of Mr. Lattka can live so further.

AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN TO LEAVE TRACES!
